Local farmers in Middleton, Manchester were called Moonrakers. After a hard day s work raking hay they would sit by the village stream and enjoy a few pints of Bitter. One evening, after enjoying many more than a few pints they looked in the stream and saw the reflection of the moon. Fearing that it had fallen from the sky, they tried to rescue the moon with their hay rakes. Hence the name Moonraker. The creamy, deep beige head sits upon a beer that shows off a deep ruby color. The nose has a seamless texture of intense malt, dried fruits with hops in the background. Rich and expansive in the mouth the very creamy palate is complex with a full bloom of malt and caramel. The hops are evident just enough to prevent any cloying sweetness. The finish is one of sweet malt with a slight hop prickle. A viscous brew with an overlaid malt core that is perfectly balanced. Drink this brew by the light of the moon.
